Ketchikan.com exists to help you spend a short time in Ketchikan well. It is an independent travel guide to the town, its totem parks and the wilderness around it — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there.
What we cover
- How arriving works — downtown berths, Ward Cove, the island airport and the state ferry — with realistic walking times.
- What to see: Creek Street, the totem collections, Misty Fjords, bears, salmon and the rainforest, and how to see them well.
- When to come, how wet it really is and what to wear.
- Where to stay if you are not sleeping on a ship.
- Which bookable excursions are worth your money — ranked honestly.
How we research
Opening arrangements, distances and prices are checked against official sources — the US Forest Service, Alaska State Parks, the city museums, the borough, airlines and ferry operators, booking platforms — and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide. Where a figure moves around, such as entry fees, bus fares or seasonal hours, we give a range and tell you to check, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.
We also tell you what is not bookable through our partners — for example some fishing lodges and independent attractions — instead of inventing links.
How the site is funded
We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There is no advertising, no sponsored content and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
Schedules change, berths are reassigned, businesses change hands. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us on the contact page — we would rather fix it than defend it.
